Our client and her son were traveling southbound on Florida’s Turnpike in South Dade County. As they exited the toll booth, their vehicle was struck by the defendant driver, who was speeding in the speed pass lane. The collision forced their vehicle to swerve and hit the shoulder of the roadway, causing the vehicle to roll multiple times, down an embankment, through a fence, and into a nearby residential neighborhood. As a result of the accident, our client spent nearly two months in the hospital and rehabilitation facilities. Now a paraplegic, our client will never be able to walk or live a normal life again. She has to depend on family members to care for her every day.
