Woman Struck in Busy Florida Intersection; Mark Clark Obtains Multi-Million-Dollar Confidential Settlement

Mark Clark obtained a multi-million-dollar confidential settlement on behalf of a pedestrian who was seriously injured when crossing a busy Broward County intersection.

The client while on vacation with her husband was crossing a busy intersection in a marked crosswalk when a stopped vehicle began to accelerate into the intersection and struck the client while still in the crosswalk. There was conflicting eyewitness testimony as to whether the pedestrian walk signal had ended and the traffic light had changed to green at the time of impact. However, Clark established that the pedestrian and traffic signal timing sequences allowed enough time for the client to cross this wide intersection safely before opposing traffic would get a green light and that the defendant driver could and should have seen the pedestrians in the crosswalk regardless of the color of the traffic light before proceeding.

The impact caused severe injuries to the client that required extensive surgeries followed by physical therapy, occupational therapy and on-going pain management. Unfortunately, the severity of her injuries affect her ability to perform many activities of daily living, and she will require ongoing medical care and treatment for the rest of her life.
