Clark Fountain Donates 150 Pounds Of School Supplies For Coleman Park Students

Florida, Fla. (August 17, 2012) –The attorneys and staff of the West Palm Beach law firm of Clark, Fountain, La Vista, Littky-Rubin & Whitman collected approximately 150 pounds of school supplies for the students of Coleman Park, as part of their ongoing support and mentoring of the youth in the West Palm Beach neighborhood.

The firm’s employees donated supplies to help fill 3,000 backpacks for deserving students, contributing a wide range of items from glue sticks to protractors. The items were boxed and delivered to neighborhood representatives Cathy Gardner and Pastor Cameron of the Temple of Jesus Christ-Helping Hands Initiative (HHI) on August 7, just in time to prepare the backpacks for the beginning of school. This year, the HHI and Coleman Park Neighborhood Association have expanded their efforts to provide school supplies, haircuts, uniforms, and other “back to school” essentials for those in need, and will host a back to school bash with food, fun, and entertainment on August 18 in Gaines Park.

The school supply drive is done in conjunction with the Clark Fountain Future Leaders Grant Program, which provides hands-on support and financial assistance to promising college students from the Coleman Park neighborhood. In addition to donating supplies and materials for school, the attorneys have identified four deserving students that they are proud to support with financial resources, lunch-and-learns, and mentoring with one of the firm’s paralegals, Sandy Duncan, whose mother lives in Coleman Park.

“When we started our firm in 2010, we wanted to reach out to our neighbors in Coleman Park to show how much we value being part of our local community,” said Julie Littky-Rubin, one of the firm’s partners.

“In the last two years, we have gotten to know many of the Coleman Park community leaders and residents better and love the opportunity to support them and their efforts, allowing us to play a small part in helping our community as a whole.”

Last year at this time, Clark Fountain held a firm-wide drive to collect hygiene products for students in need of these critical supplies. Last December, the firm hosted a luncheon for Coleman Park seniors, who participate in the neighborhood’s “SMART CATS” program, featuring caroling by the firm’s lawyers and staff.
