When Will It End? GM Issues Further Recalls – West Palm Beach Personal Injury Lawyers, Car Accident Lawyer
General Motors has issued yet another recall for cars that may have problems related to their ignition switches.
The problem is in the key itself this time and affects about 3,160,000 vehicles, the majority being built between 2000 and 2011. GM stated the keys, when mishandled or “jostled” while driving , may cause the cars ignition to change from the “run” position, which may disable features related to braking, steering and even air bag deployment.
The recall states 8 crashes and 6 injuries have been associated to this recall problem. Affected vehicles are the Chevrolet Impala, years 2006 to 2014; some Buicks that were built between 2004 and 2009, Cadillacs built between 2004 and 2011, and the Chevy Monte Carlo, built during 2006 and 2008.
The recall, GM says, is the result of ignition key inspections that followed a similar recall of 2.6 million Cobalts and other small cars.Of all the affected vehicles only the Impala is still in on the production line.
GM says it will replace the keys on all these vehicles.
