Clark, Fountain, La Vista, Littky-Rubin & Whitman is pleased to announce the opening of the 2020 “Panthers Park Your Phone” Distracted Driving Scholarship application period.

The $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior at William T. Dwyer High School in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and can be used for any type of continuing education after high school graduation, including college, cosmetology school, entry into the armed forces, trade school, or an alternative type of education that will provide advancement after high school.

The “Panthers Park Your Phone” Distracted Driving Scholarship aims to raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving and encourages students to pledge a distraction-free driving style. Applicants are asked to brainstorm creative safety features or an advertising campaign that could reduce distracted driving accidents and ultimately make our roads safer.

“We aim to raise awareness and encourage students to think twice before picking up the phone while driving,” said Julie Littky-Rubin, partner at the firm and co-founder and president of the We Are Dwyer Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to supporting William T. Dwyer High School. “Texting and driving in Florida is now a primary traffic offense. It’s more important than ever to encourage new habits to keep every Florida motorist safe behind the wheel.”

Seniors at William T. Dwyer High School who meet graduation requirements are encouraged to apply through the Friday, April 24 deadline. The firm will announce the winner of the second annual “Panthers Park Your Phone” Distracted Driving Scholarship at Senior Awards Night on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
