A tractor-trailer was not inspected as required, and, as a result, wood fell off the trailer, causing the following car driver to slam on his brakes. The resulting forces caused his pregnant daughter to go into premature labor. The baby’s premature birth resulted in complications of prematurity and brain damage. The case settled prior to trial.
