While on her morning exercise walk, Mrs. Doe was run over by the rear tires of a garbage truck that began to back up as she crossed the street behind it. The lawsuit testimony established that the driver of the garbage truck violated company policies and procedures by backing up in a residential neighborhood and not keeping a proper lookout for his surroundings. Mrs. Doe suffered severe injuries to her leg requiring an above the knee amputation. As a result of her injuries, she was no longer able to live on her own and had to move into an adult care living facility.<
