Graco My Ride 65 Car Seats Recalled After Failing to Meet Federal Safety Standards

Product Recalls BY

Over 25,000 car seats manufactured by Graco Children’s Products Inc. have been recalled after it was discovered that they failed to meet safety standards established by the federal government. According to the National Highway Traffic safety Administration (NHTSA), 25,294 Graco My Ride 65 car seats are being recalled. The recalled car seats were manufactured between May 2014 and August 2014, include several model numbers, and units with a webbing code tag of 2014/06. Recalled model numbers are as follows:

  • 1871689
  • 1908152
  • 1813074
  • 1872691
  • 1853478
  • 1877535
  • 1813015
  • 1794334

Federal regulators have stated that the recall stems from defective harness webbing that can malfunction and break during vehicle collisions. As a result, the car seat may fail to keep children restrained and increase risks of injuries. The webbing strength defect was discovered during NHTSA safety tests, and Graco has reported that the problem has been traced to a specific batch of webbing.

Graco has announced that the recall will begin on July 17, 2017, and that the company will be notifying owners and distributors. Consumers with a recalled car seat will be able to obtain a free replacement harness.
