Jupiter woman wins $400,000 verdict in suit against GEICO

Florida — A 24-year-old Jupiter woman won a $400,000 verdict last week after a jury found that GEICO wrongly refused to pay her medical expenses for injuries she sustained in two accidents with uninsured motorists.

Sondra Thrasher, also a graduate of the Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts, aggravated a back injury she sustained in a 2006 crash when she was involved in another collision in 2008, jurors found.

An attorney who represents the insurance giant didn’t return a call for comment on whether it intends to appeal.
