Florida, Fla. (January 19, 2012) – Nancy La Vista, a board-certified civil trial attorney and a partner at the law firm of Clark, Fountain, La Vista, Littky-Rubin & Whitman in West Palm Beach, has been named the “2011 Trial Lawyer of the Year” by the Palm Beach County chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).
La Vista’s successful track record as a medical malpractice and products liability trial attorney includes receiving the largest verdict in Broward county in a medical malpractice claim, and one of the top 100 verdicts in the nation in 2008—a $35 million verdict on behalf of a brain-damaged child. Most recently, she won a $6.32 million arbitration award against a Treasure Coast physician who over-radiated a patient, resulting in severe disfigurement of the patient’s hands.
La Vista recently completed her term as president of the Palm Beach County chapter of ABOTA, the first female president in its history. While she held this position, the chapter was named the 2010 Chapter of the Year by the national organization. She currently serves as treasurer of the Florida chapter of ABOTA.
ABOTA is an association of experienced trial lawyers and judges dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the civil jury trial right provided by the U.S. Constitution. ABOTA works to uphold the jury system by educating the public about the history and value of the right to trial by jury.
