Florida, Fla. (August 22, 2012) – Nancy La Vista, a partner at the law firm of Clark, Fountain, La Vista, Littky-Rubin & Whitman in West Palm Beach, has been named President-Elect of the Florida chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (FL ABOTA).

La Vista completed her one-year term as treasurer of the Florida chapter of ABOTA and was sworn in as president-elect at the annual convention July 21, 2012.

ABOTA’s mission is to protect the right to trial by jury, as well as foster professionalism in the field of advocacy for the betterment of litigants and the general public.

La Vista served as president of the Palm Beach County chapter of ABOTA, the first female president in its history. During her tenure, the chapter was named the 2011 Chapter of the Year by the national organization. The Palm Beach County chapter also named her 2011 Trial Lawyer of the Year.

A dual Board Certified civil trial and medical malpractice lawyer who has more than 20 years experience, La Vista has a successful track record that includes receiving the largest verdict in Broward County in a medical malpractice claim, one of the top 100 verdicts in the nation in 2008 – a $35 million verdict on behalf of a brain-damaged child. Most recently, her $6.32 million arbitration award against a Treasure Coast physician who over-radiated a patient, resulting in severe disfigurement of the patients’ hands, was recognized as one of the Top 100 Florida Verdicts of 2011.
